What’s the Role: Support Worker
What It Takes:
An important part of the staff role is to support the needs of individuals through the ethos and values of Praxis Care.
So the ability to be resilient, to communicate effectively and to utilise a variety of communication tools is essential.
Our dedicated staff team support our service users to learn and develop their independence skills which includes tasks such as shopping, cleaning their flat, personal care, accessing the community, budgeting, taking medication. Each staff member has something to bring to the role and we encourage staff to use their humour and sense of fun and creativity in supporting our service users with day to day life.
Where You Would Work: Iona House, Castleblaney - Co. Monaghan
Iona House provides 24/7 residential service to maximum of 8 service users with intellectual disabilities, physical disability, autism and complex needs. The age range at present is 24-75. Our residents require additional supports in all areas of their daily life including behaviours which challenge. 6 residents live within the main building with additional 2 self-contained apartments with 1 resident supported in each apartment at the end of the building.
Staff team on a daily basis consists of 1 Team Leader and 5 Support Workers with varying shift patterns between 9-12 hours. At night, 1 Team Leader and 1 Support Worker are on a waking night. The rota pattern varies according to needs of the service but given a month in advance.
An ideal candidate for the service would be someone with experience in behaviours which challenge and positive behavioural support; driven towards improving quality of life for each of our service users irrespective of their complexities. Full Driver Licence and access to own cars is essential for supporting residents in the scheme.

Salary Details:
Support Worker
Full Time contracts available
€30,288.48 - €42,033.79 per annum
*Salary based on 39 hours per week. Salary dependent on experience. Where the role requires sleep-ins, a minimum additional payment of €108 per night applies*
